Sebastian took an American band steeped in blues, country, folk and jug band sources and modernized its music with his incredible series of original compositions—“Do You Believe in Magic?” “You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice.” “Daydream.” “Younger Girl.” “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?” “Summer in the City.” “Rain on the Roof.” “Nashville Cats.” “Six O’Clock.” “Darling Be Home Soon.” “Younger Generation.”

Sebastian and The Lovin’ Spoonful placed their first seven singles in the Top 10. He thereafter went on to perform at Woodstock, whose 40th anniversary will be celebrated this August, and the Isle of Wight festivals, to write hit songs for TV, such as “Welcome Back,” and to continue writing and touring. He has been the subject of a PBS special “Do You Believe in Magic: The Music of John Sebastian” and has recently released an album with David Grisman.

John Rosenbloom of Black Hole Music, states, “We are very fortunate to be able to bring John Sebastian to Rockford for this singular solo performance. It will be his only Illinois performance at this time. His imprint on music is indelible, and he is a wonderful musician, writer and performer. It is a rare occasion to attend a show in an intimate theater setting.”
